both need a file called Resource.cfg
then, Windows: Place that file in Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\ - then place any .package files in Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages Macintosh: Place that file in The Sims 3.app > Contents > Resources > transgaming > c_drive > Program Files > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3. Then place any .package files in The Sims 3.app > Contents > Resources > transgaming > c_drive > Program Files > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3 > Mods > Packages
if it didnt work, if u still cant get it, if u want someone to help install custom content,
you may use this tool: TS3 Install Helper Monkey
this will: automagically set up your game so you can use custom content .package files for The Sims 3. Once set up, you can just double-click the files to put them where they need to go. No need to mess with Resource.cfg yourself or create any folders - just run the program, and from then on, you can just double-click the files.
You still have to double-click files to install, but everything else is done for you!
i DONT GETS IT ahhh. ive tried this ovr and ovr. created the files and such. gone into the game like 10 times now after each attempt haha. im trying here but it seems not to work for me
i cant download the MOD because its a weird folder, ive had issues with this before with sims2, but have always been able to download specific ' zip. ' folders. no prob. anyways, bottom line is i cant take the easy route or i would.
i dont quite understand wat u mean by a ' text file ' for the resource thing u want me to make. im in program files, sims3, etc. i made a mod and package file. now im stuck though cause ive done as said and i guessed the text file meant folder, and put the resource package ( im trying to download the peggy sims skin) and the package into the package folder after mod. my other question is what do i do with the read me file and the ' img ' thing. leave it in the sims3 main folder ? or what :S im so confuzzled .

well, first of all, make certain that ur operation system is Windows or Macintosh.
then, u will need Resource.cfg file. Put the Resource.cfg to your root Sims 3 folder.
For example(for windows), if you installed Sims 3 to C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3, that is your root Sims 3 folder. If you installed it elsewhere, change the following paths to reflect your install location. If there exists the Resource.cfg file in your root Sims 3 folder, you will NOT need to recover it.
third, Please create a new file folder named Mods in your root Sims 3 folder, then create another folder named Packages in Mods. The Packages file folder is the exactly place where u put all ur custom content files, the .package file i mean.
do my best to make those i love & those love me happy...
