No learning, no hugging.
With the Sims 2 the screenshot option is already included. You just have to press "c" on your keybord, you can find the pictures at My Documents/EA Games/The Sims 2/Neighborhoods/[Your Neighborhood]/Storytelling.

The quality is still not very good. If you want to have pictures look the same like what you see on your screen you'd have to use other ways, either press your "print"-key, press alt-tab and go out of your game, open a graphics program and enter this pic in there or use a program like Fraps which automatically saves the pic in a folder you chose.
If you're planning on doing a legacy or just showing off your houses/creations, I wouldn't go for the in-game camera. The quality isn't very high and the pictures usually appear blotchy when you look back on them.) d* Z9 b2 v6 t# ~

The next time you hit "prt scr", the previous picture will be erased to make room for the new picture. To save your pictures, you would have to minimize the game to the system tray, paste your picture into your graphics editor, and then start up your game again to take the next picture. Not very handy if you want to take a series of pictures.

Like baerchen83 already supplied, your best option would be to download a program that can capture your screen and save it to a folder you specified. Something like Any Screen Capture. It's a small, very easy to use program. You can define which key you want to use to take pictures, which folder you want to save them to, which format you want to save them in (.png, .jpg, .gif) and so on. That way, you can take hundreds of pictures just by pressing a button and when you close the game, you'll be able to browse to the folder and select your favourites.
not the best you've ever had, but you say I'm pretty close ...

Yes, handy, isn't it?
