How to help, pictures, avatars

How do you make the pictures that some use as avatars so pretty
They get close up and what not.

In terms of making your Sim appealing, you could try make-up and what-not to make her/him flashy

If you'd just like to know how the picture looks to be of such good quality, it's probably because it was edited in a graphics program (e.g. Photoshop). Also, it could be that the user in question has an amazing graphics card (this seems the likelier option) and simply hit the print screen button in his/her game

Well, first off, you'd have to put all your settings to maximum, if your computer is able to support that. There's a FAQ question on the site that addresses this error, so I'll just refer to that image here:

If you've done this, it already makes a huge difference, like so:

If you've got all your settings set to maximum, you might want to see if you need to update the drivers for your graphics card. There's a tutorial on Mod The Sims that explains that in detail on this page.

If you've done that and your graphics are still not what they should be, you might want to consider upgrading to a different graphic card
