let me teach u to install custom content step by step:

Navigate through: Contents > Resources > transgaming > c_drive > Program Files > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3. You are now at "the Sims 3 root folder".
Create a folder called Mods. (Attention: the captal 'M' and plural 's')
Double-click on it to enter the folder.
Create a folder inside Mods called Packages.
Paste any .package files in this folder to install them to your game. (for example, put our new skin and hair .package files there so u can use them in game.)

And, last but not least, dont forget to put the .cfg file in your root sims3 folder:

set up the resource.cfg so that mods/new data can be recognized. youare going to have to get the resource.cfg from peggy's file

Once you have gotten the resource.cfg extracted it is pretty simple ok now youare most likely asking where does this go I am confused.

I have seen some people put the resource.cfg into C:/My Documents\ElectronicArts/The Sims 3. This is incorrect it does not go there. It goes in C:\ProgramFiles\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3.

What we want to do now is copy the resource.cfg file we just got from peggysfile after extracting it and  paste it into C:\ProgramFiles\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3.

We have now successfully added the resource.cfg!

do my best to make those i love & those love me happy...
What do you mean by set up the Resource.crg so the the mods can be recognized? how do you do that.
How do I extract it in the mac?
Thank so much for posting stuff like this, Without it I would never be able to do anything
Thank you so much, I would've been completely oblivious if you hadn't posted this ^_^
I'm having a real problem with this. I followed your intructions to the letter, but now unless I remove everything that I just added, the Sims 3 no longer starts up. It begins to load, but freezes at a black screen - I can't get out of this without a hard reset of my computer. What's wrong?
Vehlr U might wanna know this,if u have resource.cfg in your Sim3 Root "DONT REPLACE IT" if you replace it u have to reinstall your Sim3

I have encounter this problem before
your saved games is all in Mydocument Sim3 take it out somewhere and reinstall the sim3 (to keep your Sim3 save file) then replace it after u Reinstall

lots of Mac user has problem with CC and new update patch...
check some threads here http://forums.thesimsresource.com/forumdisplay.php?f=671

maybe your problems start with the 1.3.7 patch or the very latest, 1.4.x patch...

I'm just curious... Is the .cfg supposed to be IN the The Sims 3 folder so it's together with Caches, Game, Gamedata etc. or so it lies with The Sims 3 as I've demonstrated in the image?
