what is 'sprig'

in golf terms,  what does 'sprig' mean? what's the 'sprig'?
i saw 'sprigged turf grass' and cant get its meaning...

I don't think the term "sprig" in your statement relates to golf necessarily.

"Sprig" is a noun, and it's usually used to describe the stem of a plant that does not have any leaves or flowers on it. It can mean other things (I had to look those up in a dictionary, since I didn't know them from the top of my head), but one relates to pottery and another to the use of the noun when referring to younger descendants of a family. Neither of which is applicable

Turf grass is used on (some) golf courses; it's a specific type of grass that requires a different handling than normal grass. Because it's basically a type of grass (like seen on this site), it has flowers like normal grass.

So, basically, the term "sprigged turfgrass" means the grass they use on the golf course that has no flowers or leaves on it
